LIVING SOIL

What does living soil mean and why does it cost more? The simple answer: These rooms are on longer growing cycles and get significantly less harvests per year. Because of this and a few other factors, we need to charge a little more for these batches.

With that being said, our Living Soil program uses sustainable practices and naturally nutrient-dense soil that’s literally crawling with life. Filled with worms burrowing through the soil providing biologically active castings, while preventing compaction to keep the roots fresh with oxygen. Other benefits being decreased watering frequency, limited erosion, and additional protection against more dangerous pests. 100% organic growing practice (other than the indoor lighting and not the sun) that is hand watered. The concept is the soil intelligence gets more diverse with time as microbial life grows. The ecosystem builds and with a bit of guidance it maintains itself. The plant dictates what it wants to eat and when it wants to eat.

“No-Till”? Tilling is a common farming practice that is the act of turning over and breaking up the soil in order to speed up the breakdown process. It is used for mixing amendments into the soil and breaking down severely compacted soil. The issue with tilling is it essentially destroys the ecosystem and requires it to rebuild. We believe that it is essential to allow this ecosystem to naturally function on it’s own. Questions? Hit us up!
